  1. Fred,

I really enjoyed your video review - I loved this movie, saw it at a drive in (yes, I am that old). Excellent work, my friend.

One tiny little criticism: when you are doing your commentary, watch the "uh's and um's" - that's easier said than done, but if you think about it, you'll stop doing it.

Other than that, I give you a big thumbs up - CNN need's a good movie reviewer, keep at it!

PS: Of course every child needs to learn about voodoo and black magic! ;)

  2. Yeah, I don't notice the 'uhs and ums' until I watch it back. I definitely need to work on that and I'm glad someone pointed it out. It's probably because I don't write what I say except for the Things I've Learned stuff and pretty much speak from the heart. The video reviews are actually helping me become a much better public speaker in a way, so that's a plus.

But I'm glad you enjoyed the video review regardless and it is a good film that's Drive-In material. I would have loved to have seen this at a Drive-In.

As for CNN, they need a lot of things at this point. But that's a discussion for another time.

Six years later Gary Sherman found himself working alongside a legend. Fred, as i`ve said before it would be so great to hear your opinion on Poltergeist 3 and the legend of Heather O`Rourke.

  4. Not sure when I'll do POLTERGEIST 3, but the first one will probably be reviewed sometime in October for Horror Movie Month.

  5. Nice, in-depth review, man. You know your shit. I think this movie looks okay. You actually made me want to see Return of the Living Dead again. I used to be a Romero purist and would not see any other zombie movie unless he had something to do with it. But I was so wrong.

Good review, man. Probably won't see this movie if you say there's a lot of slow parts, but who knows, I may come across it anyway.

  6. You, my friend, just did something I have not been able to do since the 80's...you told me the name of this freakin movie!!! I have been wracking my brain for YEARS to remember what the hell this movie was, but could only really remember the ending, so, since my comp is on the fritz sound-wise, I looked up the flick on wikipedia...and bingo, there was the ending I remembered!
Ok, this film obviously left an impression on me since I've been trying to figure out the name for, well, a long time, lets just say that.

  7. Oh, and BTW, but I DID see this at the drive in when it came out, as I did Carrie, Earthquake, Phantasm and many others, it was awesome!!

  8. @FTV Reviews - I'm such a big horror fan and I probably know more about the genre than one should really. But it helps when you decide to review the films. Yeah, Romero hasn't really made great zombie films lately but he's still the master.

Definitely check out Dead & Buried. It's not a slow movie but it builds until the end, which is worth it. So give it a chance.

@Petunia - I'm glad you finally know what the name to this film is! I hate it when that happens to me as well. And I would have loved to have seen this at a drive-in. Carrie and Phantasm too? Damn, I think I was born a bit too late sometimes...

  9. LOL, well, the drive in is just a couple of miles from my house, been going there since I was a kid. They don't use the old drive in speakers anymore, it's all tuned in to your car radio...but I do own one of the old speakers. Still have my old film projector, slide projector, hand held slide viewer, reels of family and Castle Films movies on Super 8, and my old Super 8 camera.
Sitting out under the stars and watching a movie at a drive in is an experience you have to have! Drive Ins are hard to find, but if you can find one near where you live, I highly suggest making the trip to go to it!

  10. I want to bugger Lisa Blount, what a gorgeous bird she was back in `81.

  12. Nice job, Fred! And I liked the addition of the "Things I Learned."

I'd seen this film floating around video stores forever, and wondered if it was any good. I'll have to check it out.

  13. Thanks, Scot! Yeah after you suggested it, it's been in every major video review since.

And definitely check it out. It's a good 80s flick.
